Measure & cut
Mark your panel with a pencil and score it with a sharp utility knife. The lightweight foam core snaps cleanly along the line, no power tools required for the process.

Apply adhesive
Apply 15 uniform dots of construction adhesive across the back of the panel: place 12 dots spaced evenly along the perimeter and 3 dots evenly down the center line.

Press to the wall
Position the panel against any clean, flat surface and press firmly for ten seconds. Continue panel by panel, done in an afternoon, no professional install needed.

How do I install these panels?
Apply a high-quality, solvent-free construction adhesive to the back of each panel and press it firmly onto a clean, dry wall. You can cut them to size easily with a standard utility knife. Most DIY projects can be completed by one person in just a few hours.
Can I paint the panels?
Yes! Our panels accept any standard water-based (acrylic or latex) interior wall paint. A roller or brush works best over the texture. Avoid solvent-based paints and standard aerosol spray cans, because the solvents attack expanded polystyrene. If you want to spray, run a water-based paint through a sprayer and test on an offcut first.
Are the panels moisture resistant?
Yes. Our high-density polystyrene panels are entirely water-resistant and moisture-resistant, making them ideal for kitchens, bathrooms, basements, and high-humidity environments. They will not warp, rot, or grow mold.
Can these panels be used outdoors, and are any precautions needed?
Yes! Snap Masons panels can be used outdoors and exterior walls. For outdoor use, we recommend applying a UV-resistant, water-based protective varnish to help prevent fading, cracking, and weather damage.
How do I replace a damaged panel?
Simply use a utility knife to carefully cut out the damaged section and scrape off the old adhesive. Wipe the wall clean, apply fresh construction adhesive to a replacement piece cut to size, and press it into place. Touch-up paint or caulk can be used to make the seam seamless.
